RUISLIP LIONS CLUB NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2018
Charity Easter Egg Hunt
It is more than 20 years since we started the Charity EasterEgg Hunts. Since that time, this event has produced a profit approaching £1,000 each year for the Club’s Charity Bank Account. We place an order in January, for delivery in February, for an estimated number of eggs, the precise number not becoming known until we visit prospective participating pubs and clubs four weeks before Easter.
Sometimes we have found ourselves with surplus eggs, these have been disposed of by donation to the children’s wards in local hospitals, by being raffled at the Celebration Night of our Anniversary or Club business meetings. Each egg comes in a basket trimmed with purple and gold ribbons (Lions colours), and has a message ‘Happy Easter from Ruislip Lions’. In each venue, the egg is the subject of a raffle of 100 tickets at £1 each. This year 10 out of the 15 participating pubs and clubs sold all 100 tickets. This year’s event is over so a letter of thanks, together with a Certification of Appreciation quoting the figure of £1,395 raised this year, is being sent to every participating pub or club, which is intended to encourage participation in next year’s Charity Easter Egg Hunt.
