Ruislip Lions Club outgoing president Hugh handed over the office during a fun evening at the Woodford Hall Scout venue in Ruislip at the end of our Lionistic 2016/17 year, to the incoming President Phyllis. Lions club members, their partners and friends enjoyed a fish & chip supper and party games.
Ruislip Lions Club were invited to take part in the St Martins Church, Ruislip, Flower and Music Festival taking place 7 – 9 July. The church will be open to visitors between 10-6pm over the three days of the event. In addition there is an evening of English song & Solo Piano with James Platt on Friday and an evening of Jazz on Saturday night. Tickets from the church, cost £10 pp. Well worth a visit.
For the last 30 years Lions clubs around the world have proudly sponsored the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.
To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we have an updated look and encourage every Lions club to engage with the youth in their community to sponsor a Peace Poster Contest entry.
The theme of the 2017-2018 Peace Poster Contest is “The Future of Peace.” Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 as of 15 November 2017, are eligible to participate.Peace Poster Contest Judging
Each poster is judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.
Posters advance through several judging levels: local, district, multiple district and international. At the international level, judges from the art, peace, youth, education and media communities select one grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners.

International winners will be notified on or before February 1.One international grand prize winner will receive US$5,000 and a trip to a special award ceremony.
Each of the 23 merit award winners will receive a cash award of US$500 and a certificate of achievement.

Ruislip Lions are holding the unclaimed prizes from the raffle held on Saturday during the Illyria performance. These were won by the following Numbers : 36 yellow, 22. Yellow, 246 green , 401 white, 63 yellow. Please telephone: 01895 633 501 to arrange collection
In their 26th open-air touring season, and renowned all over the world for their clarity, quality and ingenuity, Illyria returned to their home-turf: Shakespearean comedy last night. The money raised by Ruislip Lions club who hosted the troupe will support Lions charities.
There were some really great picnics brought along and enjoyed by those attending

Ruislip Lions are delighted that Illyria performing Comedy of Errors have had a great response from their audiences this season

They also explained that we are looking for more volunteers to join us
The club had a Home Grown plant stall at the picnic. There was a wonderful array of bedding plants and vegetables that included tomato and pepper varieties. The stall was busy throughout the day and raised money for local & Lions charities.
